Evansville Tri-State Ron Paul Meetup
This Meetup Group began over four years ago and we have been fighting in the Evansville Tri-State area ever since to get an honest and consistent Constitutionalist elected as President of the United States. Our efforts four years ago were focused on building Ron Paul's name recognition locally, and in that effort we focused on holding sign waves, getting on local TV with our issues, and putting important literature in the hands of voters. These efforts were successful in increasing name recognition and awareness, but were ultimately unsuccessful in winning the Republican nomination and presidency. 2012 is different! We can WIN this! Ron Paul is one of only two candidates who currently has the organization, money, and support to be competitive nationwide, and he is the only one with the record to prove his conservative credentials. Furthermore, he is the only candidate of either Party who can rally massive numbers of Independent voters around his candidacy. And THAT, my friends, is what wins elections! THAT is why he is the most electable in the Republican field and the most able to defeat Barack Obama. And THAT is why this is going to be a very exciting year for this group!

Evansville Health at Every Size
If you are tired of hearing people complain about Evansville being "America's fattest city"... If you find stereotypes and prejudice and pictures of headless fat people in the news demeaning... If you believe it's possible to pursue health at every size... If you understand health as multi-dimensional, including physical, mental, spiritual, social, vocational, and other aspects of wellbeing... If you want to learn more about size diversity, non-diet options for healthy living, or the "Health at Every Size" approach emerging in public health and medicine... If you like sharing your experiences with others in a non-judgmental, welcoming group... If you are looking to enjoy fun physical activity, eat good food, celebrate holidays and special occasions - all without the body criticism and diet talk that usually come with such activities... If you celebrate bodies of all shapes and sizes and abilities.... YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE ---------------- This group is open to people regardless of age, size, gender, shape, ability, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, family status, education, or occupation (see note below). flexible in meeting the needs and interests of its members. Want to make Yay Scales? Have a wedding coming up and want some size-friendly feedback on that dress? Want to go swimming with others who know what it's like to be judged in a swimsuit but are ready to throw caution to the wind and have some fun anyway? Excited about the latest body-positive book or article or film and looking to enjoy it with others? Want to host a regional plus size clothing swap? Want to make your workplace more healthy and size-friendly? Sure! Let's do it! This group is NOT a professional therapy group or healthcare provider. There are many licensed counselors, dietitians, nutritionists, trainers, doctors, and others out there who are size-friendly and well informed about the research supporting Health At Every Size. Check out the Fat Friendly Health Professionals List, the HAES Community Registry, or the Association for Size Diversity and Health. a weight-loss support group. If you are looking for weight-loss plans or a group to congratulate you on your latest weigh-in, please look elsewhere. If you are unfamiliar with Health At Every Size but are interested in learning about options for pursuing health without "weight watching," you are welcome to learn on your own (perhaps starting with Dr Linda Bacon's site or More of Me to Love) and/or ask questions here. In this group, however, please refrain from implying that thinner is better than fatter ("You look great! Have you lost weight?") or making disparaging comments about people's bodies, whether thin or fat, including your own. It is one thing to say "I want to be healthy and have been taught that it isn't possible without weight loss" or "I wish I had a different body so I would be more accepted." It is quite another to say "Fatties are unhealthy/ugly/lazy/stupid/gluttonous/undisciplined/bad." ---------------- A note for people who work in the weight-loss industry: Hello! You may not be completely comfortable in this group at first, but you are welcome to participate and learn. The organizer began her professional path doing research promoting weight loss before she became familiar with the HAES approach, so others who are in a similar place professionally will not be excluded. Endorsement of weight loss plans or promotion of body-based stereotypes (e.g., "All fat people need to eat less and exercise more" or "All thin people are anorexic"), however, will be grounds for dismissal. In summary, you are welcome here. The industry is not.
